Congratulations to Maryland Elite from LaSalle University, our 3v3 tournament winners! The freshmen from LaSalle joined 12 other teams from Rutgers, Depaul School, Horizon House, and all over Philly. Thanks to the support of our teams, spectators, and sponsors, we raised nearly $2,000 at our inaugural tournament!

Teams began arriving an hour earlier than required, anxious to warm up and shoot some hoops. From beginning to end, players and spectators maintained an atmosphere of friendly competition. Maryland Elite benefitted initially from an early bye as their initial competition did not show up, but quickly established themselves in the second round as a championship contender. Buzzer beaters and last second misses forced many of the early matchups into a decisive third game in our 'best of three' tournament format and teams continued to raise their game as the tournament progressed. Ultimately, with the final game going full court, Maryland Elite benefitted from a potent combination of youth and fitness, using good ol' fashioned hustle to outplay the hard-working Saigon Ballers for the win.

We were thrilled with the turnout and attitude of everyone involved. Seeing players of all ages from all walks of life compete for a common cause exemplifies the vision of community Depaul strives to share with our residents.
